I’ve previously shared blogpost and tools through my old websites (virtualexperience.no/gpusizer.com). These are now down. On this page I will share some of the tools that was previously shared there.
GPUSizer
GPUSizer was a tool I made back in the beginning of GPU virtualization. The tool runs on a workstation and analyzes the GPU utilization and builds a profile over time that can be used for GPU sizing. The tools is not updated with newer Nvidia vGPU profiles, but is still relevant as you get an overview of your typical GPU compute and framebuffer usage. It stores information in registry on the machine it runs on. It’s not recording datapoints, but updating the average, peak and a histogram of GPU utilization. In a way, it’s a lightway machine learning algorithm itself. The tool can be downloaded here. Let me know if you have any questions related to it in the comments or contact me via linkedin or twitter/x.

UXMeter
UXMeter is an opensource click-to-photon measuring device that measures a computers physical response time. It can be used with remote desktops to measure end to end latency, and optimize it. The device is built on Arduino. The blueprint to the circuit and code can be found at GIT here, but you can also use this simple schematics to build your own using off the shelf electornic components. The code is written in Arduino IDE and can be downloaded here. As a remote graphics expert, I consider the ability to build your own UXMeter equal to a Jedi’s ability to build your own Light Sabre. Are you up for the challenge? Reach out if you are interested in more info in the comments or contact me via linkedin or twitter/x.
